Day One, Friday: Ascending to Jerusalem

  • Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, transfer to Jerusalem and check in to hotel
  • Celebrate the arrival to Israel with tree planting at the Neot Kdumim Biblical Park
  • Celebrate the arrival to Jerusalem with a traditional “Shehehiyanu” overlooking the city.
  • Proceeding to the Western Wall to see the start of the Sabbath as thousands of Jerusalem residents gather by the ancient stones
  • Enjoy a traditional Friday night dinner at the home of a local family.

Day Two, Saturday: The lowest place on earth

  • Drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth.
  • Stop at Ein Gedi, where the unique minerals in the air and the sweet water springs have combined to create a special botanical garden.
  • Continue to Masada, Herod’s mountain palace and site of the Jewish Zealots’ last stand against the Romans
  • Proceed to Ein Bokek to one of the Dead Sea Resort Hotels for lunch and Spa treatments and an opportunity to float in the Dead Sea
  • Experience the spectacular Sound and Light Show at the Tower of David Museum

Day Three, Sunday: Aspects of Jerusalem Part One

  • Meet with Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center, who will speak on Religious Pluralism and Social Justice in Israel
  • Tour JerusalemOld City- visit the Temple Mount, the Roman Cardo, the Via Dolorosa and wander through the Arab “suk” (market).
  • Enjoy a traditional humus and falafel lunch at the best little food stall in the city.
  • Continue to Mount Zion and visit Dormition Abbey, the room of the Last Supper and Oskar Schindler’s burial site.
  • Dine at “Eucalyptus”, where Chef Moshe Basson has recreated Canaanite cuisine using the wild herbs that grow in the Jerusalem Hills
  • Bike ride through the Old City (Late night option).

Day Four, Monday: Aspects of Jerusalem Part Two

  • Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Museum
  • Meet with Dr Rachel Korazim, Holocaust scholar and the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, who will discuss how Israel relates to the subject and how the attitudes have changed over the years.
  • Visit the Machney Yehuda Food and Spice Market with expert cook Tali Friedman, for a shopping session followed by cooking together in her rooftop atelier.
  • Continue to the Israel Museum and participate in a special “women in the museum” tour with a curator

Day Five, Tuesday: North to the Galilee

  • Drive towards the Galilee along Route Six, and discuss the seamline, separation fence and co- existence issues.
  • Visit to Barta, an Arab town, straddling both sides of the green line
  • Visit Capernaum’s ancient synagogue where Jesus started his Galilee Ministry
  • Continue to see the 2000 year old fishing boat at Nof Ginossar.
  • Visit Tzfat, the Kabbalistic town. Meet with local artists and tour the ancient synagogues and alleyways
  • Check in to the Mizpe Yamim Spa resort hotel, with its magnificent views over the central Galilee
  • Enjoy dinner in the main dining room serving organic food from the hotel gardens
  • Meet with Col (Res) Sarit Zehavi who will speak about Women and Radical Islam

Day Six, Wednesday: Mediterranean History and Culture

  • Enjoy free time for spa treatments or a tour of the hotel farm or an early morning walk through the nearby town of Rosh Pina.
  • Depart west towards Akko, and visit the underground Crusader city and the secret Templar tunnels
  • Continue to a late lunch in a Druze home in the town of Daliat El Carmel
  • Meet with Scotswoman Valerie Hecht at the Carmel Winery in Zichron Yaakov, for a tour of the cellars and a winetasting
  • Drive to Tel Aviv enjoy and free time for dinner at the trendy Sarona Complex

Day Seven, Thursday: And now for something completely different: Tel Aviv 

  • Meet with Col(Res) Miri Eisin, formerly of the IDF Spokesperson’s Office, for a morning briefing on Israel in the Middle East Arena
  • Attend a rehearsal of the Bat Sheva Dance Company, acclaimed as one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world
  • Explore the graffiti and street art of the Florentin neighborhood with expert Guy Sharett
  • Visit the studio of renowned jeweler designer Michal Nagrin
  • Enjoy free time for last minute shopping and packing
  • Check out of hotel and farewell dinner in Old Jaffa before proceeding to the airport for return flight
